The house is named after the famous Austrian artist Christian Ludwig Attersee, whose elaborate mosaics on the facade of the building have made it a landmark in the Mariahilferstrasse. H & M is the largest user with its 4000 m² "Vienna flagship store". NH Hotels operates a City-Suites hotel in Atterseehaus. The Mariahilferstraße, with 600 stores, more than 160,000 m² of retail space and over 70,000 pedestrians per day, is the largest and most profitable shopping street in Austria.
